Wanna Tell The World
From Australia :
It's great to hear consistently positive news about our Jim.
I only wish I could have been there for the Stockholm shows, but seeing
I couldn't,I really enjoyed reading Joan Adamson's report,it was good to know the songs that Jim sang & it sounds like he hasn't lost any of that superb voice.
He's just the best!
Can't wait to see the Gloucester video. Will there be a Stockholm edition as well?
Please pass on my thanks to Joan.
Kind Regards,

Hi everyone,

I don`t actually have a report but I just want to say that I am Frank Allen of The Searchers and we are looking forward so much to our tour with Jim through October and November. I have spoken to Jim on the phone a few times and he really sounds great and 'up for it'.

John McNally and myself have discussed such a project for a long time now. On every occasion the idea of a tour has been broached there was just one person who we felt would excite the public, who hadn`t been overexposed on the circuit and who had a talent that, when he is on form, would knock the socks off everyone. And that person was P.J. Proby.

It wasn`t an easy decision. As we all know Jim is an enigmatic and unpredictable character who occasionally seems to have a self destruct button that he can`t help pushing. Many times when we have told people of the tour we have been faced with worried looks and shaking heads. Well, we would like to think we are able to bypass the circuit on that button and let the world see what a truly great artiste he is. It`s frightening because this is our idea and it is our heads which are going to roll if it blows up in our faces. But it`s not going to!

I saw him in ' Only The Lonely' on the first night of his inclusion and he was absolutely wonderful. He looked great and moved beautifully, like a panther on the prowl. Somewhere was pure magic. and American Trilogy made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. When he is on form there is no one better. On top of which he is a truly nice person with a great wit and charm. I am looking forward to the concerts so much. If P.J. blows us off the stage I will have no complaint. It is such a shame for that talent to be hidden. And at this time in his life Jim should be living in genteel luxury and enjoying the rewards of that talent.

This high profile tour I think will provide the perfect platform to announce that he is back and ready to regain his throne. It`s what he needs and what comes after is what he deserves. If Jim does the pre-tour publicity his name will be in the newspapers, his face on the television and he will be singing to full houses at important venues across the U.K. And then what? We could continue the tour across the world if everyone is happy. Why not?

I think back to our first tour with P.J. It was the first one after the famous 'trouser splitting' incident and we, having fallen from grace a little, closed the first half. Chris Curtis had just quit the group and we were using our 'temporary' drummer John blunt. It was way back in `66 and I didn`t really get to know Jim too well on those dates. He was a wild, heavy drinking character and frightened me a little. He was a star and I still felt a bit like the new boy. After that he dropped out of sight very quickly. We struggled too and went through some very lean times but gradually we clawed our way back until the SIRE records gave us back some status and 'street cred'. At the end of `85 the nostalgia boom kicked into gear in a big way and we enetered the most rewarding years of our career outside of the hit days. We now hold a very secure position in our league and are very much enjoying the fruits of our labour. The secret is that you have to be objective about yourself. To see yourself as a member of the audience sees you. You have to deliver the goods before you can demand the applause. It cannot be the other way round.

If you get the chance to see one or more of the shows I hope they will be nights to remember. With P.J, the ever popular Billy J. Kramer, the terrific and much underrated Billie Davis and ourselves it`s going to be a major event. I want to see P.J Proby back as the powerful force he once was and always should be. See you there.

All my good wishes,

Frank Allen.
